Quizzes, School Visits, Discussion Guide & more!
We Are Not Alone is coming next month and I've just added free curriculum!
As a former educator I know what it's like to be a public school teacher in California. That's why I want to make sure there are Common Core-aligned activities to go along with my books.
Go to Teachers Pay Teachers and find me under Katryn Bury for quizzes, lessons, discussion guides, and other free goodies to act as a companion if you use We Are Not Alone in your classroom.
I ❤️ teachers!
COMING SOON!
Learn to write and break codes with Katryn! Students will learn about codes & ciphers in connection to We Are Not Alone, coming 10/29/24
School Visits
Before I was an author and a public librarian, I worked in school libraries. So, I absolutely ADORE school visits. I have set presentations that you can choose from, but I'm also happy to work within your curriculum for certain topics (see below for more detail). If you'd like to reach out, please look at details below or email me at katrynbury@gmail.com for more details. I am able to commit to a free 30 minute virtual presentation for any public school!
Feedback from schools:
"Your slide show was engaging (my book clubbers commented that there was a skull on every slide!) and your presentation and pace were at the right level for our audience. Teachers also appreciated how you rolled with the questions...and shared lots of great insight into the book writing process.
Everyone was very happy with our first in-person event!"

"As you have worked with this age group, you could easily cater to their writing needs."
--School Librarian, Cupertino, CA
"Katryn Bury was amazing! Students cannot stop checking out her Drew Leclair book series!"

Writing Workshop
*You can find my presentation-style events below
If you would rather have a more interactive presentation
for a smaller group or class setting, ask me about my
workshop option. In addition to my presentation about
how I became an author, I can also guide your class in a
short character workshop. Using character sheets (in the
style of Dungeons & Dragons and other role playing games)
I can work with your class to create a memorable character
for their own writing.
Presentation: 15-20 minutes; Workshop is 20-30 minutes, followed by a 15 minute Q&A for about 1 hour total.
